User Reviews about Digital Atsc Tv Box VGA Digital HDtv Tuner Receiver
I read through the reviews on this I have to agree with all of the ones who say good things. This product was just what I needed and operates wonderfully.
I have an older TV (Sony Trinitron) that came without an HD tuner, it was only Hd-ready (and for the small added cost, why did they even market with no HD Tuner?) I also have an HDTV receiver I pick up used, but it needs a very strong signal to keep a stable image. Not so with the KWorld box. It picks up lots of the local HD signals with just a short (included) set top antenna, but I have it hooked to a mid-range TV antenna in my attic. In the Arlington area, that means about 30 stations pick up ok. (The signal fades a little on MPT but that channel is a little far and slighty off axis of my attic antenna). The local DC area stations are clear and stable which is what I was really looking for. The older HD receivers I have seen cost more used that this unit does new. It has some other features such as the ability to hook it to a computer monitor but I am not using this so will not opine on this.
The remote is a little funky since the controls have no words just symbols but you figure it out (like you have to punch 4 _/_ 1 to select channel 4.1 ) This is a very minor thing IMHO. If you need a tuner, I would really recommend this one. -- HDTV for less
I purchased the product to use with my Vivitek D825MX 2600 Lumen XGA DLP Projector. I use the projector for presentations but I can project broadcast television like the NBA finals or Superbowl for parties we host at our home as well. The VGA output provides 1280 x 720 resolution and works great for both the projector and a standard LCD monitor. Standard definition tv tuners only have the composite (yellow) video output.
Like many of the reviews, I found that using the tuner not entirely straightforward. The buttons on the remote aren't entirely intuitive, but once you figure out what each button does, it's easy. The manual isn't clear on the features, but the projector does all that it advertises. I have noticed the price fluctuating as much as 30% on Amazon depending on the seller. I paid slightly more than a standard def tuner which I feel is a good deal. If you are a tech head or are familiar with other electronic items, you'll figure it out.
Getting the composition video output to work is a bit tricky. Basically you can toggle between RGB output and composite output. The chosen output will appear on the screen when you toggle.
Tuning channels was easy and the tuner seems to tune channels better than a standard standard definition (SD) box. Manual tuning is also possible on a channel by channel basis. This is useful if you use more than one antenna (pointing in different directions through an rf a/b switch). For instance, I tune Fresno television and Sacramento television using antennas pointing in opposite directions.

I purchased this because, like many, the wife and I ditched cable service in lieu of internet TV, but still wanted access to some of the local Over-The-Air(OTA) stations to get weather, some news, etc. on our 37" Tuner-less monitor that we have been using as a TV. This device has worked great since the very first moment of plugging it in and powering it up. The instructions are near useless and cover both models in this product line. The build quality is better than expected, everything feels sturdy and plugs in solidly. It's a little big for what it is, and the power-on light on the front is quite bright and blue, but beyond that there are few down-sides to this tuner. The remote takes a bit of getting used to, but if you're smart, you'll set it up and then configure a universal remote to control it. The fact that it pulls down station names and program listing information is a bonus. Close-captioning works really well also. -- A great addition to a tuner-less monitor
